As we reach the end of October, I wanted to take a moment to share some highlights from our recent Black History Month celebrations. This year, our school has embraced the theme with a diverse range of events aimed at fostering understanding and appreciation of the rich contributions made by individuals of African and Caribbean descent. Throughout the month, children participated in storytelling sessions, where they learned about historical figures and contemporary role models who have shaped our society. The storytelling not only ignited curiosity but also sparked meaningful discussions among the children. Additionally, we organised dance workshops that allowed children to explore different cultural expressions through movement. It was a joy to see their enthusiasm and creativity shine, as they engaged with various styles that reflect the vibrancy of black cultures. These activities promoted teamwork and respect for diversity, virtues that we hold dear at our school. As we move forward, I encourage you to continue these important conversations at home. Discussing the stories and significant contributions of black individuals will enrich your child's understanding of history and society. Furthermore, I recommend visiting local libraries or galleries that might have exhibitions or books related to Black History Month. Thank you for your continued support in fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates all cultures.
