Nursery & Reception Learning Highlights
BackNursery
The Nursery children have been learning all about different occupations and exploring the different jobs they could have when they grow up. We had a very exciting visit from the local firefighters where the children had the chance to meet real firefighters and get inside a firetruck. The children also had the opportunity to discuss what they want to be when they grow up and act out different scenarios in our small worlds. We also celebrated Chinese New Year and Valentine's Day while developing our painting and colouring skills. The children have developed so much over their time in Nursery and showed off their greater control and self-awareness with a new self-portrait.
Reception
This half term in Reception, our focus was on answering the question, "What does it take to be a superhero?" Alongside exploring fictional heroes like Supertato and Superworm, we celebrated the real-life heroes in our community, including firefighters, police officers, and doctors. A highlight was a special visit from our local fire department, where the children had the opportunity to explore a fire truck and learn about emergency equipment. They also practiced important survival skills, such as dialing 999 in an emergency.
In addition to our superhero adventures, we looked at the importance of maintaining good health. Discussions ranged from dental hygiene to understanding different food groups and why eating healthy is good for our bodies. To wrap up our theme, the
children enjoyed a hands-on activity: making their own fruit kebabs. It was a delightful and tasty way to conclude the term!
