At The Langley Heritage Primary, we aim to inspire children’s love and curiosity about their understanding of the world through scientific disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We encourage children to explore confidently to develop and deepen their understanding of the world in which they live, explaining what is occurring, predicting how things will behave and analysing causes.

Intent:

At TLHP, our intent is to provide every child with a high-quality Science education. Our curriculum is designed to develop the natural curiosity of our learners and support them in asking questions and finding answers about the world in which they live. Our pupils will understand how major scientific ideas and specific scientists in the past have contributed toward societal change – impacting on industry, medicine, business and improving quality of life. Impacted on the way we live.  The aim is for scientific enquiry to form a common thread through the curriculum, allowing learners ample opportunities to develop a rich scientific vocabulary and develop a scientific approach through open-ended questions, collaboration, and discussion.  We believe that as well as being able to understand a scientific enquiry for themselves, it is important our children can also explain this coherently and with a critical mind to someone else.

Our curriculum is designed to engage pupils and promote a love of learning through use of the outdoor learning environment and museum learning experiences. The impact of our curriculum is that pupils leave TLHP school with the subject knowledge, skills, and confidence to complement their learning in KS3.
