PSHE & RHE
BackOur PSHE curriculum has a mindful approach and it is compliant with the DfE Statutory Relationships and Health Education guidance. We use a scheme of work called Jigsaw which goes even further than this and provides a spiral and progressive comprehensive PSHE Programme in which the statutory elements sit and are embraced. In addition to Jigsaw, we also use guidance from the PSHE Association to ensure we deliver a high quality and engaging curriculum. We also go beyond national schemes of work, by adapting our curriculum to meet the needs of our children and community. For example, we deepen children’s understanding of mental health and the importance of kindness through extracurricular events such as our Children’s Mental Health Week and Kindness week, respectfully. Through our PSHCE curriculum children develop tolerance and empathy towards others and they learn how to resolve conflicts by being resourceful and reflective. They build healthy relationships which celebrate differences and develop lifelong healthy habits to boost their physical and mental wellbeing. The impact of our PSHE curriculum is global resilient citizens capable of contributing to society and achieving self-actualisation.
N.B. Parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of SRE.
We have an SRE folder available in the office for parents to access at any time. We also offer access to the Jigsaw planning website; however, due to copyright restrictions and best practices, we can only share the access code on a one-to-one basis. As partners in children’s learning, we encourage parents to request access if they wish to view the lesson plans for the current or upcoming Jigsaw unit.
